 ADOPT A VILLAGE PROJECT (AVP)

As part of NGYF’s mission, which is bringing transformation and sustainable development into the lives of both individuals and their communities especially where both Government and other NGOs assistance do not reach, we have initiated a Project dubbed “ADOPT a VILLAGE PROJECT” (AVP).

Adopt a village Initiative aim at helping individuals and communities to identify their real needs and the challenges facing them hence educating, empowering and providing them with the necessary skills and resources they need to find sustainable solution to these challenges.

Our goal is to work together with these villages to eradicate poverty among themselves and work towards achieving sustainable development and becoming self-dependent.

NGYF hope to achieve this target through collaboration with other organizations, stake holders, volunteers, institutions, youth groups by engaging in:

  • Awareness creation or organizing public education among the people living in the community about identifying their challenges, what are the causes and how and what to do to prevent or deal with them.

  • Apart from awareness creation, NGYF also hope to organize skills training for the unemployed youths in the villages after which they will be assisted by providing them with the necessary tools or equipment they will need to help them start practicing the skills they have acquired. Small scale businesses and local farmers will also be educated and assisted in order to produce enough and also to be able to market their products.

  • Again NGYF will help construct classroom blocks, playgrounds, libraries, computer laboratories etc. where necessary to enhance convenient and effective teaching and learning environment for the children. We also hope to initiate educative program or competition such as spelling bee etc. among these school children in order to encourage them to learn, engage in creative thinking and also help them develop their talents and potentials, so that the facilities provided will be of good use and of great benefit.

  • Construction of clinics or health centers and training of individuals to enable the villagers get access to healthcare and first aid in times of emergency. These health centers will help to reduce mortality rate before, during and after child birth among women. Most of the women and children suffer in these villages when it comes to healthcare delivery since the villages are very far from major hospitals and clinics and the villagers in some cases have to travel over so many miles to be able to get treatment when they are sick.

  •  We hope to construct public toilets/latrines to enhance clean and hygienic environment which we believe will reduce the outbreak of cholera and other deadly diseases as well as building a healthy and strong communities.

  •  Provision of dust bins as well in order to take care of unnecessary disposal of waste which is another major cause of outbreak of deadly diseases in so many rural and urban areas now.

  • Last but not the least we want to organize voluntary placement of individuals who have passion to share their knowledge and skills with the rural communities in the field of health, agriculture, education, small scale businesses etc.
