Located on the west coast of Africa, along the Gulf of Guinea, Ghana (Africa’s friendliest and most peaceful country) attained independence on the 6th of March 1957 from Britain. Bordered by Togo to the East, La Cote D'Ivoire to the West, Burkina Faso to the North and the Atlantic Ocean to the South, Ghana has a population of over 25 million people with the majority living in the capital city of Accra and other major cities.

It is just a few degrees north of the equator and boasts 537 km of coastline.

Ghana is considered by many to be West Africa’s “golden child” due to its promising democracies and oil reserves. Unfortunately, this nickname is not representative of the country's poverty situation, as an estimated 6,440,000 people live below the poverty line.

Ghana is a very religious country with approximately 70% of Ghanaians being Christian and 15% being Muslim.

There are 9 government sponsored languages in Ghana but the official language is English.

Often called “Africa for beginners” Ghana is a great place to start your travels whether you are a first time traveler, first time traveler to Africa or you just haven’t been away from home for a few years.
