In selecting community services, and projects NGYF focuses on areas of greatest need where not much assistance is available from government and other NGOs. These areas include Rural Education, Rural Development, Heath, Small Scale Enterprises, orphanages and other group community projects.

For the past two years NGYF has partnered with International Coalition for the Eradication of Hunger and Abuse (ICEHA) a non-profit organization based in Virginia in the United States to improve the living condition of over 1000 people living in some remote communities in the Volta region of Ghana.

ICEHA which is a sister organization to NGYF has contributed immensely to the improvement of quality education among young people in the village of Yevi and Klefe through their Global Classroom Initiative where educational materials ranging from note books, story books, pens, pencils, curriculums, sporting equipment such as footballs, basket balls, volley balls, computers and teachers salary have been provided which has enhanced quality teaching and learning among teachers and students. ICEHA has also sponsored weekly IT training in both villages through the Rural IT Training Program.

ICEHA through NGYF has provided clean and safe drinking water which till today serve over 1000 people in Yevi and its surrounding villages. Women have been trained in bead making as part of the organizations entrepreneurship program. Toilet facilities were built to curb the open defecation situation which has reduced the outbreak of several sicknesses in the area.

BUILDING A TOILET FACILITY FOR AKATSI DEMOSTRATION BASIC SCHOOL

Akatsi Demonstration Basic School is a public school with the population of over 250 students located in the Akatsi South District in the Volta Region, although the school have good classroom blocks it does not have a single latrine which is a huge challenge to both the teachers and the students but most importantly this situation pose a serious health challenge to the young teenage girls who are in their adolescent stage.

Most of the students including the females have to run to nearby bushes to attend to nature’s call, a practice which is very dangerous to the females mostly and also pose serious health problems such as Cholera among other disease. Most of the girls find it difficult coming to school when they are in their menstruation period.

We are looking for an amount of $5000 to construct a 10 seater toilet (water closet) facility which will serve the whole school so as to curb this situation in Akatsi Demonstration Basic School.

Support us by donating any amount or provide us with any equipment/materials that we need to start this project.

Over 80% of women living in rural areas in Africa cannot read or write making them victims of all kinds of abuse as well as hindering their growth and personal development making most of them losing their worth as women. Our Adult Education Initiative focus on educating women who couldn’t have the opportunity to education during their youthful age to acquire some basic knowledge and skills in businesses ranging from Tailoring, Hairdressing, Corn mill center and poultry farms which we believe will help bring change into their lives and begin to make new decision of taking care of themselves and families leading to a self-sufficient and economically viable community.

You can support this program by donating to sponsor the provision of education supplies to be used or by sponsoring a teacher to teach these women.

Click on the DONATE button to continue with donating.

You can also contact us via email if you have interest in this program and would like to partner.

Volunteers who are interested in community development and have ideas or business or any form of vocational skills they would love to share with these women from the village can also contact us via email;
